We’re back! And this time, our Fiat-based Torino motorhome is the perfect base for creating a delicious pizza.
Whilst you watch the video, you'll need to pretend we’re parked up overlooking a waterfront view. In this episode, we made full use of the Torino’s smart layout. Prepping and assembling the pizza on the rear multi-position dining table gave us plenty of space and flexibility while the convection microwave was preheating.
Within 20 minutes, we were slicing into a fluffy, yet crispy pizza that looked and tasted like home.
Thanks to the Torino’s 48V electrical system and 5kWh lithium battery, we’re not just reheating leftovers. The standard convection microwave bakes, grills, steams or does a combo of these functions without mucking around with gas bottles. This kind of flexibility means you can create proper meals wherever you’re parked, without compromise.
Pizza Ingredients - Easy to Substitute
- Pizza dough - we used Forestway Fresh’s pizza dough sold in packs of 4. Woolies and Coles also do single serving refrigerated dough. Semolina (or flour)
- Pizza sauce
- Pepperoni
- Pizza cheese - any grated cheese works, we had a combo of mozzarella, parmesan & cheddar
Other topping ideas - beef mince, red onion, creamier cheese like buffalo mozzarella, fresh basil. Work with what you have access to on the road.
-
Garnish
- Hot honey (see recipe below if you’d like to make your own)
- Chilli flakes
Pizza Method:
- Defrost dough if required
- Roll dough ball in some semolina (or flour) on chopping board
- Cover with tea towel so dough doesn’t dry out and rest until at room temp
- Unlikely you’ll have a rolling pin, so OK
- On the convection microwave, press Combination 7 times. There are many different types of combinations/temperatures available - Combi 7 gives you high Grill and 230 degrees convection simultaneously
- Press Start - this will preheat the oven for about 10 minutes
- While preheating, spread your dough out into a pizza shape - can use rolling pins or just your hands like the videos
- Using back of spoon spread the pizza sauce evenly (don’t need to do outer edge)
- Sprinkle a little grated cheese evenly over pizza (again leaving the outer edge)
- Add pepperoni last - hot tip from Shortees crew - this is going to crisp up the meat beautifully and absorb the honey better
- Can add a little olive oil to outer edge to help crisp
- Once preheated, add food promptly and use ^ button to add your time. We did 12 mins but removed around 10 depending on the crispiness you’d prefer.
- As soon as cooking begins, hold down the Steam button until you hear a beep and press Steam once more. This will give you 2 minutes of steam that will puff your crust before it starts to grill
- Once cooking finished, remove from oven with glove
- Drizzle with hot honey and sprinkle chilli flakes if desired

Flavours inspired by Shortees Golf Hot Honey Pepperoni Pizza
Hot Honey Ingredients:
- 1x Cup 100% honey
- 1x small red chilli, sliced in half
- Chilli flakes
Hot Honey Method:
- To a small saucepan add all ingredients (including chilli seeds)
- Cook on low - medium for about 5-10mins (do not boil), stirring occasionally
- Take off heat and rest for another 10 mins
- Strain into preferred container - we used a squeeze sauce bottle
The hot honey is super versatile if you like a bit of spice - think pizza, baked brie or a charcuterie board, scrambled eggs or adding some heat to a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
