We’re finally giving you a proper look at the latest TRAKKA Jabiru J2M. Built on the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter MWB AWD platform, this compact 6-metre camper has been part of our lineup for some time but now it’s stepping into the spotlight with imagery and a walkthrough video. Much like its Fiat-based sibling, the Torino, the J2M combines a clever internal layout with all the premium fit-out, off-grid capability and finish you'd expect from a TRAKKA.
To kick off the tour, our J2M offers a fixed internal height of 1.92 metres. It feels open and comfortable the moment you step inside, and there's no need to raise or lower anything when you arrive at camp. This design is ideal for all-season use and adds to the J2M’s refined, apartment-like feel on the road.
A standout feature is the fully enclosed internal bathroom, designed with flexibility in mind. Depending on your travel style, you can choose a traditional cassette flushing toilet, a composting waterless option with SOG ventilation, or a packet-style waterless separating toilet. This smart layout delivers genuine privacy and convenience, whether you're at a remote bush site or parked by the beach.
Up front, the cabin connects seamlessly with the living area. Swivel front seats pair with a removable dining table to create a relaxed social or work zone. It's also a handy extra bench for prepping meals when you're using the galley. And this kitchen doesn’t cut corners—dual induction cooktops, a convection microwave oven, a deep sink with filtered drinking water, and a 150-litre fridge and freezer make it easy to prepare proper meals on the go. There’s smart storage too, with deep drawers, overhead lockers for your pantry, and even a hidden bin system to keep things tidy.
Beneath the fridge, we’ve tucked away a powerful 5kWh lithium battery. If you need more off-grid capability, there's a 10kWh upgrade available, like the one shown in our walkthrough video. This setup, especially when paired with optional 800W solar, offers long-lasting power for extended off-grid stays—no need to rely on caravan parks or shore power.
The real magic happens at the rear of the J2M, where the flexible lounge space doubles as your bedroom. Twin day lounges run along each side, each stretching to 1.85 metres. By night, they convert into single beds designed for maximum comfort, with a wider section for shoulders and a tapered end for your feet. This not only makes sleeping more comfortable but also makes it easier to get in and out of bed. The space is full of useful features, including power outlets on both sides, a fold-out shelf to extend your kitchen bench, and plenty of storage both under the beds and in small hideaways for personal items.
The J2M you see here includes a few upgrades that really enhance the travel experience. There’s a bladeless 240V fan for added airflow on warm nights, a powerful 8kW diesel room heater for colder climates, and integrated storage for your camp chairs and table. Outside, the optional slide-out alfresco kitchen gives you another way to cook and connect with the outdoors. This build also includes a suite of TRAKKA off-road accessories for those planning to push a little further off the beaten path.
The J2M is proof that compact doesn’t mean compromised. It’s a full-featured touring vehicle that fits into tight coastal campsites, suburban driveways, and winding backroads with ease. For solo explorers, couples, or digital nomads, this is one of the most capable all-wheel drive campervans available in Australia today. Built on the trusted Mercedes-Benz Sprinter MWB chassis and backed by decades of TRAKKA design experience, the J2M is ready for your next adventure.
